NYC Potpourri with a Dash of Detroit

I love NYC so much. I’ll never forget my brother visiting from Korea and in the morning after a long, loud, fun night we had bagel sandwiches, coffee and strawberry milk (mine) delivered to our door. Hot and cheap. Except for the milk.
My in-laws were hit by Hurricane Sandy resulting in lots of trees down and branches everywhere:

I didn’t make it into the city this time back east. My in-laws live south enough to make the commute quite long and we were only there five days. Still though I got a peek at the skyline when landing in Newark and my heart sure did skip a beat.
Our next trip takes us to Detroit, the place I was born but not raised, and because Martha says to, we are thinking of taking a couple of days to explore Corktown. Now if only we can find a hotel with a few more amenities:
