MMM – Milwaukee
Mostly Madison Mondays – a howdoyoudo from my new hometown of Madison, Wisconsin
Our friends hopped in a car at 4am Friday and drove TEN HOURS to a wedding in Michigan. They return today. Saturday we drove to Milwaukee after sweating the 90 minutes it would take to get there. It was pouring rain and we had nothing to do so we just decided to drive to Milwaukee. Look at us! NINETY MINUTES! And we still did it. Who’s feelin’ their Midwest oats? The last time we drove that far we spent the night to break up the drive home. Despite being born and raised in Michigan and never stepping foot on a plane until Army Basic Training, I am not one for long car rides. Neither is Kris. Too much city living between now and then I suppose.
We spent the whole day in Milwaukee (since there was a marked absence of pigs in the sky we assumed Arlo would not nap), starting at the Discovery World Museum, then lunch at Riveria Maya, then the zoo and finally dinner. Filled to the brim, both Arlo and Farrah fell asleep on the car ride home and we carried them in the house and up the stairs while still asleep. Just like they do in the movies!
And that makes Milwaukee a win even if it is so very, very far away.
