Ghee Happy

If you have a child whose birthday party we’ve attended, you now have this book in your home:

By Sanjay Patel, 40 pages, Chronicle Books, September 20, 2012

From Ghee Happy’s site:

“Ghee Happy is a brand that celebrates Indian mythology and culture thru design and storytelling in a fun and modern way.  This vision has lead to the publication of two books, museum exhibits, apparel, and products.

Sanjay Patel is a supervising animator and storyboard artist at Pixar Animation Studios in Emeryville, CA.”

Kris and I first came across Sanjay’s Patel’s work in a tiny bookstore in the Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina area.  We bought The Little Book of Hindu Deities and another copy for our young nephews.

Look at Kali holding the severed head of her latest victim! Adorbs!

I have never seen anything like what Ghee Happy is putting out and I love the art so much I wrote Mr. Patal – beseeched him to create an Annaprashan e-vite for the Bengali masses.  Millions (of rupees) to be had!  MILLIONS!  Having now organized two First Rice Ceremonies, I’m convinced a Ghee Happy e-vite and accompanying thank-you note would sell like hot chapatis but alas, Mr. Patal remains silent.  Good thing I’m all out of babies.

Check out Ghee Happy for your next birthday gift or party favor or library donation.  You’ll Ghee Happy you did.  Ghee you later!  Oh gheez already.
