The Best Things I Saw All Week

Woman Has Legs

This headline-editing project from Vagenda Magazine made me laugh:

The dolls I decorated for Teacher Appreciation Week.  Farrah Star wears tea leaves while Arlo sports lentils.  India arts ‘n crafts.

Farrah lies in sympathy with Arlo as his button hats are secured via vice grip.  So sweet.

Speaking of, this, from Interracial Dating’s Facebook page, made me smile (thanks Larissa!):

I’ve been thinking about the #bringourgirlsback campaign all week and feeling quite impotent about affecting any change.  I did post Chris Rock’s tweet on my Facebook page, with great hesitation I might add.  Yeah, turns out I’m THAT afraid of terrorists.

I also went to Amnesty International’s site to make a donation but then crapped out when I envisioned the onslaught of junk mail that would bring – which in turn made me feel like a cretin.  Then I read they have no location in Nigeria “THERE IS NO AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL PRESENCE IN THIS COUNTRY Amnesty International does not currently have a presence in this country.” so I felt slightly better.

In the end I set aside the threat of junk mail and contributed to The Malala Fund:

How are you feeling about this crisis?  How are you contributing?  I’d love to hear your plan of action.

It’s a big, BIG weekend around here because I’ll be reading (first! yikes!) for Listen To Your Mother at the Barrymore Theater, Sunday at 3pm.  It’s also Mother’s Day and I am already inspired to do the unthinkable and post on a weekend.  Until then, Happy Saturday Dear Readers!
