MMM: Stop Staring At My Kielbasa

Mostly Madison Mondays* – a howdoyoudo from my hometown of Madison, Wisconsin
*The days between arctic tundra and hostile mosquito takeover are fleeting.
MMM will span all days of the week while spring remains.*

Milwaukee, why you gotta be so awesome?

Father’s Day took us back to Milwaukee for Polish Fest ’14, a mecca for all things dill, vinegar and smoked pork.

“Milwaukee has the fourth-largest Polish population in the U.S. at 57,485 (9.6% of the city’s population), ranking behind New York City, Chicago and Philadelphia. The city holds Polish Fest, an annual celebration of Polish culture and cuisine.” – Wikipedia

I am Polish on my father’s side, Slovac on my mother’s and hungry on the inside.  We came for the food but stayed for the possibility of a nap, a cable-car skyride and kettle corn.

I need to clarify that this is not mine. Ketchup on a kielbasa is an abomination. ABOMINATION! But a beefstick in a bloody mary? Bravo.

Speaking of things that are delicious . . .

Hitting the on-ramp to return home, Kris and I agreed that we always have a good time in Milwaukee.  Thank you bigger, badder, bolder neighbor to the east.  You are the kielbasa to Madison’s boiled cheese pierogi and we love you.

Until next time,
